What is Prune Belly Syndrome?
Prune Belly Syndrome (PBS), also called Eagle-Barrett Syndrome, is a rare congenital condition affecting approximately 1 in 30,000–40,000 births. It occurs in males in about 95% of cases and is defined by three classic features:
- Weakened Abdominal Muscles
- Undescended Testicles
- Urinary Tract Abnormalities
Bladder Management & Catheterization
The PBS bladder is typically large and does not contract well, making complete emptying difficult. Clean Intermittent Catheterization (CIC) is the recommended solution — draining the bladder several times a day to prevent infections and protect kidney health.
